5 tips to telling a story

Sometimes you don’t have all of the resources and pre-production time when producing a video.

These 5 tips will give you enough material to tell a compelling story.

1.  Interview the subject matter expert – When interviewing them, have them repeat the question when they answered.  This will help you edit the soundbites together.

2.  Capture crowd and sign shots (B-Roll) – This will help to cover the talking head speaking.

3.  Music- If you are capturing a performance, let the camera roll for a few minutes.  This will give you a background audio track to use as your music track when you edit.

4.  Have a prepare 3-5 questions and ask people their thoughts – using the same questions will help you edit the responses.

5.  Use Nat Sound – Sometimes starting with this will get your audience intereted in the story right away.
